INGREDIENTS:
Homemade Doughnuts
- 2 ¼ cups All-Purpose Flour
- ½ cup Fresh Milk, warm
- 1 ½ tsp. Instant Yeast
- 3 tbsp Water, warm
- 3 tbsp Unsalted Butter, melted
- 1 piece Egg
- ¼ cup Caster Sugar
- 4 cups Vegetable Oil, for frying
Chocolate Glaze
- 1 cup Powdered Sugar, sifted
- ¼ cup Fresh Milk
- ¼ cup Milk Chocolate, melted
- ¼ cup Cocoa Powder, sifted
- 3 tbsp Unsalted Butter, melted
- ½ tsp Vanilla Extract
PROCEDURE:
- Start making the dough. In a mixing bowl, add the warm milk and instant yeast. Mix well. Pour the melted butter, egg, water, and sugar. Whisk everything until the sugar is dissolved.
- Using a spatula, add the liquid mixture to the flour. Mix together to make a soft bread dough.
- Flour your working surface and place your dough.
- Start kneading the dough until smooth and less sticky. Once smooth and soft, tuck all sides to form a ball. Get a bowl and brush it with butter. Put the dough in the bowl and brush the top with butter. Cover with cling wrap. Place it in a warm place. Proof the dough for 2-3 hours.
- After proofing the dough, remove the cling wrap and then punch it gently to release the air.
- Flour the working surface and knead the dough for 1 minute.
- Roll the dough to about a half-inch thickness. Roll it until even.
- Get a doughnut cutter and flour it so the dough won’t stick to it. Start cutting the doughnut and place it in a tray with parchment paper.
- Put some flour on top of the doughnuts. Cover the tray with cling wrap. Place it in a warm place until it has doubled in size.
- Start frying it. Heat the oil over medium heat. Gently put the doughnuts in the pan. Check both sides closely for even cooking. Transfer the doughnuts to a tray with parchment paper while putting the doughnut holes and scraps into a bowl with cinnamon sugar. Mix them well.
- Make the chocolate glaze. In a mixing bowl, add the powdered sugar, milk, cocoa powder, butter, vanilla extract, and melted chocolate. Mix them well until smooth. Use a whisk to remove lumps.
- Start dipping the doughnuts into the chocolate glaze.
- Put some sprinkles on top. Ready to serve.
